Nesting

Nesting makes me happy. I like having my people around me and my stuff. These days since my chicks have flown I feather my surroundings with books, IPad, paper, and pens. My read of the hour is, “To Love is Christ” by David Teems.

David’s writing stuns me with it’s exquisite vitality. I appreciate the way he captures truth, rattling complacency, elevating perspective, while feeding the soul. His poetic style settles me down while David’s word choices stir my nest with an invitation to fly.

So if you’re feathering your nest with new reads consider “To Love is Christ.” It’s a daily devotional and I personally flit hither & yon throughout it like a bird searching for places to sing. I’m never disappointed.

What’s in your reading nest?

I’m getting ready to order this: http://www.amazon.com/Invitations-God-Accepting-Forgive-Remember/dp/0830835539/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1308242689&sr=1-1

But the David Teems suggestion is well noted. I’ve enjoyed all the snippets you’ve been posting lately.

Patsy, I too love David Teems’ writing. To Love is Christ is a classic. I don’t say that lightly. It really is a book that transcends time, transcends our time…somehow reaching that place that great books reach–a book for the ages.

I really think David is one of the finest Christian writers our generation has produced. His writing belongs in that pantheon of the greats- Oswald Chambers, C. S. Lewis, and others of that caliber.

I have read all of the David’s books, and really believe the best is yet to come for him. He is a thinker, a ponderer, a poet, and a wise sage, with an amazingly silly and simple humor at times. It’s the poetry of his phrases that get me. The craftmanship so seldom seen in our time. Well, I could wax rhaspsodic.

I just yesterday finished Majestie: The King Behind the King James Bible. So you could say I am teeming with Teems! Sweet Teems to you!

I just finished “Craving Grace” by Lisa Velthouse. Had some very excellent thoughts about grace. I have a review on my blog. Definitely worth a read.

Recently finished your book “Kaleidoscope” which I loved. Currently, finishing up “The Cause Within You” by Matthew Barnett. Both great reads. 🙂
