Make a Splash!

Last week I took a walk with a friend in the rain tucked under a big umbrella. We circled mud puddles, shared secrets, and dodged other umbrellas.

That memory remains like lavender’s scent swirling in a breeze. It is often the small shared bits of life that tie hearts in friendship.

Like:
giggles over lunch
window shopping in the snow
eye dabbing in a movie
an unexpected card
a divided dessert
porch chats
a shared book

Little seeds grow into sturdy trees.

Speaking of a “shared book”, this reminds me of “Sheltering Trees”, Patsy. Oh, the treasured gift of friendship. XOXOX

That’s exactly how I feel walking on a New Zealand beach with my Kiwi ‘sister’, Margaret. When we’re miles apart, we walk on beaches in our respective locales and think of each other….somehow we’re not so far apart then…

Love it and the same can be said for family. It’s the memories that will be left and cherished. I went to Target with my 16 year old daughter and 10 year old son yesterday. I whispered in my son’s ear that we should take off running in the isle and hide from my daughter. As we started off laughing, she saw and caught on. Yes, we have played this game before. I know, a little immature for a forty one year old woman but still fun. She catches up and finds us. As we stand there laughing, I’m grateful for the fun I have with them. I know in my heart it’s moments like that which will bring me future smiles by just simply thinking of them. Memories like spending nights cuddled up with them watching a movie to spending time with my firends and sharing laughs. You can’t put a price tag on those memories; you can’t replace them or re-do them and you need them to build your relationships. You are so right, “they are shared bits that tie the hearts in friendship”. For me at Target yesterday, it tied the hearts between me and my kids. Love the blog 🙂

I’m writing memories for my book right now. You’ve inspired a different way to write one. Thank you!

A Splash in my life happened 2 weeks ago on a Sat morning (Oct 23) about 8:35. My grandaughter Makalay Suezette Coleman was born. A very precious 5lb 8oz baby girl. She made such a splash in the two weeks I got to know her. She died Friday evening of a rare liver desease. I’m not telling this to be sad. I’m telling this because she gave me such a glimps of God. It was amazing. Thank you God for that SPLASH in my life.
