Friend of sinners, forgive my self-serving ways. Teach me how to take care of myself without my exacting unnecessary payment from others. Teach me servanthood without my turning it into martyrdom. Teach me success without my allowing it to inflate my ego.
Thank you, Jesus, for not shunning me for my ragged righteousness. Or abandoning me when my walk teeters. Or forsaking me when I fail miserably.
You truly love completely. In You I find companionship, forgiveness, acceptance, privilege, discipline and safety. I’m thankful for Your sandal-clad heart that keeps You close. What an honor to call You Friend. Amen.
Have mercy on me, God, in Your goodness; in Your abundant compassion blot out my offense. Psalm 51:1
